A. OBJECT:

TO SEPARATE SAND AND COMMON SALT IN PURE AND DRY STATE FROM THE MIXTURE OF THEM.

B. APPARATUS REQUIRED:

1. Funnel
2. Filter paper
3. Burner
4. Porcelain basin
5. Test tube
6. Wire gauze.

C. CHEMICALS REQUIRED:

1. SALT AND COMMON SAND.
2. SILVER NITRATE (AgNO3)  SOLUTION.

D. THEORY:

When a mixture & voluble and insoluble solid is dissolved into proper solvent, one of the component gets dissolved leaving unchid another component undissolved. Then component from the mixture can be separated by filtration followed by sucessive physiochemical treatment.

Filtration is the process separating the water insoluble component of the volution by of porus medium like filter paper. means The insoluble component remain in filter paper as residue. The soluble component obtained is called filtrate. filtrate contain Sodium chloride (NACL) solution and pure sand is oblained by washing of sand by water and pure volt is obtained by washing! evaporating the filtrate.

Reaction for salt

PROCEDURE:

The given mixture woh sand and common taken in salt was a beaken and pufficient amat of waten to dissolve the valt completely (about one test tube) was Lit. And I mixed the mixture steadily .

2. Fiter papen on stand pouned in was set up in funnel and filtered.

3. The mixture volution was transfered dowly into the filter papor (adjusted previously) with the shelp of glass rod "The Basin. filtered solution was collected in a "dry porcelain.

5. Evaporation if the solution is done until crystallization point and allowed for drying.

6. I washed the gand several times to that there is no presence of salt.

7. for purity test, I dropped Agios voltion to the dost dip if filtrate If while precepifate of while precipitale not compledy bolt fire and if no appears. then it is how wall free

RESULT:

Sand (water insoluble) water soluble salt solution component where separated from Free mixture  by dissolution in water. Followed. by filtration and evaporation of the filtrate upto crystallization..

CONCLUSION:

Any mixture contain water soluble water in coluble and components can be separated by dissolving the soluble component in watch followed by filtration and evaporation.

PRECAUTIONS

1. Minimum quantity of solvent should be used for dissolution of mixture.

2. There should not be air chubble between filter pop and immer wall if the funnel.

3. During filliation solution should be filled well below bring if folds of filter. paper... to Purity dest should doc conred out it's make the residue free from soluble salt.
